Shirt Generator
A T-shirt generator for real shirts: put any image on a T-shirt, drop it in, get a real shirt in the mail.
A shirt generator that makes actual shirts
Most things called a T-shirt generator either draw you a picture of a shirt or invent a design with AI and leave you to find a printer. This one starts from a picture you already have: a drawing, a photo, a screenshot, a meme, a page from a notebook. Drop it in, crop it, and a few seconds later you are looking at it on a shirt in any of 76 colours. If you like it, it gets printed and posted to you.
Every shirt is printed to order by Gelato on a Bella+Canvas 3001, the soft, fitted unisex tee most print shops use, in 100% cotton (the heathers are a cotton blend). The print area is 12 × 16 inches, and the file that goes to the printer is made at 300 dpi from your picture, placed exactly where you put it.
How to make a T-shirt from any image
- Drag an image onto the page, click to pick one, or paste it (⌘V or Ctrl+V). Crop to just the part you want.
- Touch it up if it needs it. Remove background cuts out a person or a thing. Clear the paper keeps just the ink from a photo of a drawing or a printout. Small pictures are sharpened for print automatically.
- Place it: drag it around the print area, size it with the slider, pick a shirt colour. Crop again any time.
- See it on a person. One click makes a photo of someone wearing your shirt, so you can tell how big it really looks.
- Add it to your cart in as many sizes and colours as you like, from XS to 3XL, and check out. Or publish it to the gallery so other people can buy it too.
What a shirt costs
A shirt is $32 with US shipping included, printed and posted in about 8–10 days. Bigger sizes cost a little more because the blank shirt does.
texs.org members pay about what it costs to make and ship: $20 for a shirt, and $16 for each extra shirt in the same order, since they share one parcel. There is no markup hiding in there; it is the printer's price, postage, the card fee and a small cushion, rounded up to the dollar.
A gallery of shirts other people made
Publish a shirt and it goes into the gallery with your name on it, where anyone can heart it or order one in their own size and colour. It is a good place to look if you want a shirt but don’t have the picture yet.
Questions
Is this an AI T-shirt generator?
Not in the sense of inventing a design for you: what gets printed is your picture. AI helps around it: cutting out the background, sharpening small pictures for print, and the photo of a person wearing your shirt.
What kind of image works best?
Anything with a clear subject. Bigger is sharper; a picture around 2000 pixels across prints crisply across the whole chest, and smaller ones are sharpened for you. Transparent PNGs print with no box around them. For a drawing on paper, use Clear the paper so only the ink prints.
How long does it take to arrive?
Shirts are printed within a day or two of your order and sent by USPS Ground Advantage. Most arrive in 8–10 days. You get an email when the order goes to the printer.
Do you ship outside the US?
Not yet. For now orders ship to US addresses only.
What sizes and colours are there?
XS to 3XL, in all 76 colours Gelato prints the Bella+Canvas 3001 in, from white and black to heathers, pastels and brights. You can order one design in several sizes and colours in the same order.
Can other people buy my design?
If you publish it. Publishing puts the shirt in the public gallery under your name, and anyone can then order it. Unpublish it whenever you like.
Can I use any image?
Only images you have the right to use: your own photos and drawings, or pictures whose owner says you can. Please don’t upload someone else’s artwork or logos.
